Classification

The Hollow Saint is the first open case under the Descent Protocol at the Deepwell Institute. Subjects are not interviewed in the waking world alone. Through the Protocol, a researcher descends a neural bridge into symbolic mindscapes (shafts of memory, hazard, and metaphor) to recover the fragment that explains everything: the root memory.

The Descent Protocol

You enter as Dr. Anya Rao, the Institute's most capable diver. The Protocol does not show a literal past. It shows what the mind built to survive its own truth: stone corridors, rising speed, voices that may or may not be yours. The Stone Teacher speaks when you go deep enough. Listen carefully.

• The subject presented as a spiritual teacher of unusual certainty. Followers described a single, unbroken voice of guidance.
• Deepwell imaging suggests the "voice" may not be external. The shaft will not confirm that for you. You have to fall for it.
• Memory fragments recovered during descent reconstruct the case map. Echoes bank between runs and fund the tools you need to go deeper.
• Daily Descent sessions share a seeded challenge across all divers. Depth is measurable. Truth is not.

How to engage the case

In Down Is Forever, Case 01 is the entry into the Descent Protocol. Hold left or right to steer through the shaft, dodge hazards, collect Echoes and memory fragments, and survive as deep as you can. The deeper you go, the closer you get to the Hollow Saint's root memory.
