Privacy Policy
Down Is Forever is developed and published by Joginder Tanikella ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the Game and website handle, why, and what choices you have. The short version: the Game collects no personal information, shows no ads, and contains no analytics or advertising SDKs. The only game data that ever leaves your device is an optional, anonymous leaderboard score. The marketing website may collect limited traffic analytics as described below.
Information we do not collect
The Game does not collect, request, or have access to:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials (there are no accounts)
- Your precise or approximate location
- Your contacts, photos, files, camera, or microphone
- Advertising identifiers: the Game contains no ads and no ad SDKs
- Analytics or behavioral tracking data: the Game contains no analytics SDKs
Data stored on your device
Your game progress (best depth, run history, banked Echoes, collected memory fragments, unlocked cosmetics, upgrades, achievements, and settings) is saved locally on your device only. We cannot see or access it. Uninstalling the Game deletes this data.
Waitlist (website)
If you join the waitlist on our website, we collect your email address. This is stored in our Supabase database and used only to notify you about platform launches (for example iOS) and related game updates. We won't spam you. You can ask us to remove your waitlist entry at any time via the contact form.
Contact form (website)
If you use the contact form, we collect your name, email, and message (and optionally your device model). This is stored in our Supabase database and sent to us by email so we can reply. We use it only to handle your request.
Website analytics
Our marketing website at downisforever.com uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic. This helps us see which pages people visit, roughly where visits come from (including referrers), and basic site-performance signals. It is not used for advertising, remarketing, or selling data.
When someone shares a run, record, milestone, or app invite from the Game, the shared caption may include a website link with standard UTM parameters (for example utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, and utm_content). Those tags let us see which share types drive visits to the site. The share-card image itself shows only clean links such as x.com/downisforever and downisforever.com; tracking parameters appear only on the clickable URL in the caption.
Website analytics is separate from the Game. The Game still contains no analytics SDKs.
Leaderboard data (optional)
The Game has an optional online leaderboard. When a score is submitted, the following is sent to our leaderboard database (hosted by Supabase):
- A random player ID: a randomly generated identifier created on first launch. It is not derived from your device, hardware, or any personal information, and it cannot be used to identify you.
- A display name: the name you choose to show on the leaderboard (up to 14 characters, defaults to "Anon"). Please don't use your real name or other personal information as your display name.
- Your score: the depth reached, the board (global or daily), and the date of the run.
This data is used solely to display leaderboard rankings to you and other players. It is not sold, shared with advertisers, or used for any other purpose. If your device is offline, scores are queued locally and submitted when a connection is available.
Data deletion
You can request deletion of your leaderboard entries at any time via the contact form (choose Data Deletion Request) with your leaderboard display name and the #tag shown next to it in the Game, if visible. We will delete the matching entries within 30 days and confirm by email.
To remove your waitlist signup, use the contact form and tell us the email you signed up with.
All other game data lives only on your device and is removed by uninstalling the Game.
Children's privacy
The Game does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. There are no accounts, no chat, and no ads. The only user-provided text is the optional leaderboard display name, which we encourage all players to keep anonymous.
Security
Leaderboard data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored with Supabase, which maintains its own security practices. Since the data is anonymous, a breach could not expose your identity.
Changes to this policy
If we change what data the Game or website handles (for example, if a future update adds new online features or different analytics), we will update this policy and revise the effective date above before the change takes effect.
